I’m often asked, what is metal clay?
Simply put, its’ a clay consisting of metal particles, an organic binding agent and water that once dried and fired becomes solid metal. The current types are fine silver, sterling silver, copper, bronze and gold.
It’s a versatile product that is extremely forgiving. So much so that you can create a piece, dry it and with a bit of water, break it back down to clay, providing you don’t fire it first. You can mold it, texture it, make hollow forms, sand it, shine it up, apply colour to it and so much more. The beauty of it all is that you can work with the clay in the comforts of your own home and at minimal cost.
